Two Achievements Won the 2014 Annual State Science and Technology Prizes

The 2014 annual National Science and Technology Awards Conference, sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council, was grandly held in Beijing on the morning of January 9, 2014.  Two scientific and technological achievements by researchers of the Lab won the 2014 annual State Science and Technology Prizes.
The achievement of “The Key Technology and Application of Automated Control System of Large Supercritical Units” undertaken by the research group of professor Liu Jizhen won the second class prize of 2014 National Science and Technology Progress Award. This project was completed by joint efforts of Professor Liu and Professor Pan Gang of Beijing GuoDianZhiShen Control Technology Co., Ltd, and achieved breakthrough on the levels of complex modeling theory and state reconstruction technique of large ultra-supercritical units within their research and self-dependent innovation. The invention patents applied in this project amounted to 60, in which the authorized patents was up to 20. This project had won 46 software copyrights, published about 22 SCI papers, 23 EI papers and 23 research papers. It successively passed the project acceptance and technical appraisement organized by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), National Energy Board and Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE).
The achievement of “The Key Technology and application for monitoring Ultra-High Frequency Partial Discharge of Gas-Insulated Device” undertaken by the research group of Professor Li Chengrong won the second class prize of 2014 State Technological Invention Award, which was the first time in the history. This project had won 18 authorized patents of invention, 6 patents of utility model as well as one software copyright, and published about 49 SCI papers, 185 EI papers. The SF6 Gas-Insulated Device for monitoring at state of insulation has been widely used.
The 2014 annual National Science and Technology Awards Conference honored 318 achievements, 8 scientific and technological experts as well as one foreign organization. Among the prizes, Yu min, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), received the State Supreme Science and Technology Award.
