The Chinese Automation Conference and International Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Conference 2017 (CAC), hosted by the Chinese Association of Automation and organized by Shandong University and Shandong Association of Automation, was held from 20th to 22nd October, 2017 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province. A total of 12 academicians specialized in automation, electrical information technology, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and the other related fields, more than 200 scholars from Changjiang Scholars Program, National Outstanding Young Scholars Program and Thousand Talents Program and experts in automation from home and abroad gathered together to diagnose the intelligent manufacturing and discuss on the future development of the automation industry.

Professor Liu Xiangjie from the State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electric Power System with Renewable Energy Source (NCEPU) was invited to make a special report entitled “load frequency distribution model forecast control of the interconnected electric power system with the integration of wind power” at the session “new energy and smart grid”. In his report, Professor Liu Xiangjie reviewed the development history of the interconnected electric power system load frequency control, analyzed the influence of large-scale wind power integration on the load frequency control, elaborated the methods for the load frequency distribution model forecast control of the interconnected electric power system with the integration of wind power and the research findings achieved by the State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electric Power System with Renewable Energy Source (NCEPU) in this field. Professor Liu’s report was highly rated by both domestic and overseas scholars and experts.

At the session “new energy and smart grid”, altogether 7 well-known experts and scholars were invited to make special reports. Besides Professor Liu Xiangjie, the other 6, academician or outstanding scholar (Changjiang Scholars Program), are Academician Xue Yusheng from State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, Professor Cao Yijia, vice president of Hunan University, Professor Liao Ruijin, vice president of Chongqing University, Professor Ju Ping, vice president of Hohai University, Professor Mei Shengwei from Tsinghua University, and Professor Jia Hongjie from Tianjin University.
